Standing In The Eye
Diptych | Two 16x16" Panels | Mixed Media on Canvas
Acrylic, Plaster of Paris, Ground Limestone, Sand & Instant Coffee
Sold as a set and intended to be displayed together

Created with earth-based materials and a new layered process, The Eye is an abstract diptych that captures the stillness at the center of chaos — that strange, quiet space where everything is in motion, yet something inside remains intact.

Each 16x16 canvas echoes the swirling intensity of a storm — soft but forceful, grounded yet turbulent. The texture is rich, raw, and weather-worn. While abstract, these works resemble aerial snapshots of the eye of a storm. I thought of Brandi Carlile’s song The Eye while creating them — two people, two hearts, standing side by side in the middle of something hard. A relationship tested by life’s unpredictability. A breast cancer diagnosis. The fight to stay soft in the center, even when everything outside is thrashing.

This piece is about endurance, tenderness, and the sacred pause before the next wave. It’s a reminder that in the heart of the storm, there is stillness. There is strength. And there is love.
