This piece feels like freedom to me.
Like climbing onto my pink and white Huffy bike in the 80’s with nowhere in particular to go. The neighborhood felt enormous then. There was space to roam, to explore, to disappear into my own imagination. The joy of no cell phones no one trying to get ahold of you!
The colors carry another kind of childhood memory—the bright, almost quality of the 80s. Shifting pinks, peaches, yellows and violet layered over glimpses of color underneath.
Part of the 80’s Child Is Full of Woe collection, Huffy Hour holds the spaciousness and possibility of childhood freedom—the feeling that the world was big, the day was long, and your bike could take you anywhere.
