Trapper Keeper 30x40 Mixed Media Original
Trapper Keeper
30 × 40 inches
Oil over acrylic on canvas
Sometimes the memory is simply in the color.
This painting began as an acrylic work before I layered oil over the surface in purples, yellows, and blues. Bright flashes of the original underpainting still poke through—pinks, greens, and those almost impossible-to-describe colors that immediately take me back to being a kid in the 80s.
When I look at it, I think of Trapper Keepers.
Not one particular Trapper Keeper I owned or one specific memory. It's the color combinations. The wild patterns. The particular visual language of an era when seemingly no one was worried about whether all the colors went together.
Part of the 80's Child Is Full of Woe collection, Trapper Keeper is about that instant recognition that can happen before a specific memory arrives. Sometimes a combination of colors is enough to take you back.
When you purchase an original, if you don’t choose to pick it up from the studio you will be sent an additional invoice for shipping costs.
This piece is not framed (framed pictures are just to give you context of how the piece could look framed.) No refunds or exchanges. All sales are final.
