This piece was layered heavily — color over color — until the surface began to resist. The paint lifted. I lifted it and scraped away further.

Entire passages were peeled away.

What remained was not a mistake, but a revelation.

The surface now carries evidence of both force and restraint. Coral, turquoise, light blue, pink, neon green, and gold shimmer through scraped and rebuilt layers. Pencil and oil pastel marks trace movement across a surface that shifts depending on the light.

From one angle, it feels vibrant.
From another, restrained.
Up close, the history is visible.

This work reflects a truth about healing: sometimes we move too quickly. We disrupt what is still forming. But when we return with steadiness, something deeper can emerge.

Not erased.
Not pristine.
But fuller.
Completely alive.
