Abstract Acrylic on Canvas
Collection: Mending, In Practice
The day after completing Ripples of Delight, the urge to paint returned immediately.
So I carried another canvas outside.
The weather had turned unexpectedly warm — nearly 85 degrees in mid-March — one of those early spring days when the body remembers what sunlight feels like after a long winter. The wind moved through the yard, the air was bright, and painting outdoors felt like the only right place to be.
This canvas once held another painting that had never fully felt like mine. Rather than discard it, I layered over it again, letting the earlier textures remain beneath the surface.
Fields of violet, magenta, fern green, and Carolina blue were laid down in loose passages of color. Once they dried, sweeping gestures of gold and silver moved across the canvas, catching light and creating movement that shifts as you walk around it.
This piece reflects a moment many of us recognize in healing — the moment when something inside begins to open again. Not carefully. Not cautiously.
Simply because it can.
