This painting began before sunrise.
Wide awake at 4 a.m., Before coffee, before writing my daily ritual morning pages I picked up an older acrylic painting that I had already decided to paint over. Rather than starting from scratch, I allowed the history of the piece to remain. Layers of light greens, blues, and yellows from the original painting still peek through the surface beneath a veil of zinc white oil paint and passages of soft violet.
For me, this painting captures the feeling of stumbling upon something unexpected and beautiful before the rest of the world is awake. It is a reminder that wonder often appears when we loosen our grip on the outcome and allow ourselves to explore.
What To Know About Purchasing an Original:
When you purchase an original, if you don’t choose to pick it up from the studio you will be sent an additional invoice for shipping costs.
