What can I tell you about this painting?
She is stubborn, obstinate, slow to come around.
Yet she contains a groundedness, and an integrity. She pauses and clears the reaction before she speaks. She is whole, she moves from a place of deep self worth.
This painting took a LOT of time. Many layers. Many revisions. Moments where I thought I had lost her completely. At one point I began tearing squares of canvas and patching them directly onto the surface itself — reinforcements, interruptions in the story.
Titanium whites, violet, light mint green, light blue, creamy pink. She holds the depths of the ocean in her rectangle.
Like still waters running deep she holds her depth until clarity returns. She took awhile, and I love her for it.
