There are paintings that arrive easily into their homes. And then there are paintings that wait. Joy in Motion has been one of the ones that waits.
Joy in Motion has been available for purchase, but it hasn’t found its home yet. So for the Full Moon, I’m doing something different and at the same time returning to a ritual that has been meaningful to me over the years.

Created outdoors on a warm spring afternoon, this piece carries the energy of movement, color, and return. Layered over an earlier painting, traces of what came before remain beneath the surface—held, not hidden. Loose passages of violet, magenta, fern green, and Carolina blue create the foundation, while gestures of gold and silver move across the canvas like light in motion.
If Renewal marks the return of vitality, Joy in Motion captures what follows—the simple momentum of being alive again.

A Note
Once in a while, I do things differently. This is one of those times. This is not something I do often.
It felt right for this piece. It felt right for this moment. So I’m following that.
It felt right to open this during a Blue Moon. Maybe I’ll do it again, maybe I won’t Maybe I’ll do it every once in a blue moon.
