Coral of the Unconventional 14x20 Mixed Media on Paper

$210.00

Created in Beaufort over Thanksgiving, Coral of the Unconventional was the very first piece in this series — the moment the loosening began. It started with three abstracted blooms and the intention to release the tight control that has long shaped my watercolor practice. As the paint spread and the colors softened into one another, the forms took on a coral-like movement: organic, playful, alive.

I made this piece while reflecting on joy, on the off-the-beaten-path magic of living unconventionally, and on the deep gratitude I hold for the friendships that stay true and steady. The marks, colors, and textures echo that energy — bright, curious, a little wild, and fully present.

An ode to experimentation, friendship, and the unexpected places creativity leads when we allow ourselves to let go.
