The Certainty of Change 14x20 Mixed Media on Paper

$210.00

The Certainty of Change begins with three red tulips — the familiar forms we expect to stay, to hold, to mean something fixed. As I worked, I let the watercolor run wild across the page, washing over the blooms with layers of brown, black, and violet until the lines blurred and the shapes dissolved. Blue ink, white oil pastel, and hints of green and red pastels add movement and energy, creating an ethereal, shifting landscape.

This piece is about the changing rules of life — how the things we thought were solid soften, fade, transform. The tulips become a metaphor for the stories we build our lives around: what we believed would stay, what feels certain until suddenly it isn’t.

A reminder that nothing holds still.
Everything changes.
Control is an illusion.

What remains is the beauty in the becoming.
