The Pleasures of Uncertainty 18x24 Mixed Media on Paper

$324.00

18x24 • Mixed Media on Paper

This piece was made on December 27th, on an unseasonably warm day, after the intensity of the holidays had finally lifted. I felt pulled to create — not with a plan, but with urgency and relief. I wanted to paint on canvas, but instead I worked on paper, using what I had and letting the moment lead.

The painting began with three red bursts that hover somewhere between blooms and fireworks. Green stems followed. Loose washes of purple and brown filled the space, then pencil marks moved freely across the surface. Darker violets were layered in small, intentional places, guiding the eye without tightening the composition.

This piece is about the pleasure of not knowing — of allowing a painting to become what it wants to be rather than forcing it into shape. About making anyway. About choosing play over precision. About discovering that uncertainty can feel expansive, joyful, and alive.
