The Trinity of Hecate: Triptych · Three 48 x 60 mixed-media works on canvas
The Trinity of Hecate
Triptych · Three 48 x 60 mixed-media works on canvas
The Trinity of Hecate is a triptych exploring orientation, inner knowing, and conscious choice. Painted over existing abstract works, each panel allows the earlier painting to remain visible within the body and the moon, revealing history rather than erasing it.
Drawing quiet inspiration from the myth of Hecate — the goddess of thresholds and crossroads — these paintings are not depictions of mythology, but meditations on how wisdom actually moves through the body: first as awareness, then as discernment, then as embodied truth.
Each piece can stand alone, but together they form a complete cycle — a moment before action, the clarity of decision, and the body that carries it all.
I. Galaxies Within
48 x 60 · Mixed Media on Canvas
In Galaxies Within, the artist’s nude form is revealed through subtraction rather than addition. A previous abstract painting becomes the skin, the moon, and the interior landscape of the body itself. Neon color surrounds the figure, activating the surface while allowing the past to remain visible.
This piece speaks to the body as archive — a place where memory, experience, and inner worlds are held simultaneously. Nothing is erased. Everything is carried.
This panel represents the threshold: the truth that we never arrive empty.
II. The Still Point
(Awareness Before Action)
48 x 60 · Mixed Media on Canvas
With eyes closed in seated meditation, The Still Point marks the moment of inward listening. The figure emerges from the underpainting while neon color radiates outward, suggesting energy held rather than spent.
This work represents awareness before action — the pause where attention gathers, intuition speaks, and movement has not yet begun. It is not hesitation, but presence. Not withdrawal, but preparation.
Placed at the center of the triptych, this piece anchors the others, serving as the quiet axis around which discernment and embodiment revolve.
III. The Crossroads
(Discernment / Decision)
48 x 60 · Mixed Media on Canvas
In The Crossroads, the artist meets the viewer’s gaze directly. The face, traced from a projected image, reveals the underpainting beneath — the past visible within the present moment of seeing.
This panel represents discernment: the clarity that comes after inward knowing, but before action. It is the moment of choice, when awareness becomes decision and direction reveals itself.
There is no urgency here — only readiness.
Collecting the Triptych
While each painting may be collected individually, The Trinity of Hecate is conceived as a unified work. Together, the three panels map a cycle that repeats throughout a life: listening, choosing, carrying forward.
This triptych is for those standing at a threshold — not in search of answers, but in trust of their own capacity to recognize them.
